I had a wonderful solo excursion to experience the zip lines at Refreshing Mountain. As soon as I drove onto the Retreat and Adventure Center property located near Denver, PA., I was struck by the beauty of the surroundings. The outdoor areas, pathways, and buildings are well maintained and the signage is very helpful. Everything exudes a feeling of excitement, yet there is a calmness vibe that I greatly appreciated too. One of the first activity areas I saw was a large, perhaps 2 ½ story Obstacle and Ropes area which at the time of my visit had several young folks traversing from ‘here’ to ‘there’ throughout. I immediately thought, ‘what a wonderful way to instill self-confidence, focus, problem solving, and agility in young people. It was also immediately apparent that the Center places highest emphasis on guest safety. At the Obstacles and Ropes challenge and later as I walked about, I saw ample presence of staff demonstrating overarching responsibilities for ensuring safety and compliance. The focus on safety was palpable. When I reached the seven-zip line attraction, I again found very helpful, friendly, kind and courteous staff and it was impossible to miss that safety was foremost in their minds as well. For all the obvious reasons, we guests were coached, instructed, buckled in and secured whenever our feet were not on solid ground. It was remarkable to watch the mastery of the zipline staff as they went through their procedures for moving guests across sky bridges and through the treetops. The rides themselves were very exhilarating, but yet not so extreme where thrilling could become chilling. What a blast! Following the zipline, we returned to the Visitor Area, were we stepped out of our gear and inwardly felt, for each of us I’m sure, the thrill of accomplishment. We had the option of purchasing movies that had been taken by cameras that had been attached to our helmets. While I did not purchase my footage, I saw that it was high quality. The Retreat and Adventure Center is a gem, and the zipline experience itself is beautiful, thrilling, yet strangely calming. The setting, the facilities, the staff, and the focus on guest enjoyment and safety were exceptional. I understand the entire area will be highly decorated and adorned with lights during the Christmas Holiday Season. I want to return then.
Response from the owner:Jim thank you so much for this wonderful review. It makes us so happy to hear that you enjoyed your visit. We cant wait to welcome you back for our Christmas Lights.

Only good things I can say about Refreshing Mountain. Everything was smooth and pleasant! Booking online was easy. The first person who met us at the zipline office made me feel like he was genuinely happy to see our family at their resort! I almost forgot that you can feel something like that at the reception desk.

All the staff were cheerful, knowledgeable, and caring. All the equipment is perfectly maintained. CLEAN, COZY RESTROOMS! Delicious ice cream! It was love at 1st sight and I will definitely come back again!

To the person taking care of this place: you managed to build a great team, and together you are doing the right thing! Thank you for making me smile all day!

The boys leading the adventure on the zip lines were social and polite. They were patient. Although the one guy (Josh 😆) said I was scared of heights and he shook the platform and sent me first on the jumpy bridge. Love that guy. Wish there were more like him. Thanks for the experience.

    FAQs

What Is A Zipline Canopy Tour?

A Zip Line Canopy Tour is a series of cables and platforms that take you on an exhilarating tour through forests and wildlife. Canopy Tours were originally created to study different plant life and trees. Now it has become much more about the exciting “ziplining” experience. However, we still try and show the forest and wildlife from a perspective you’ll never forget!

Should We Tip The Tour Guides?

There is no tipping expected. There will be at least two guides with your group for the duration of the event, and you can expect that they will be highly professional and safety-conscious. They will take good care of your group through the experience, whether you tip them or not!

What Physical Condition Should I Be In To Participate?

Participants do need to be reasonably fit to participate by the nature of the event. Please see the Activities Release and Waiver Form for more details on this. Still, in general, participants should be able to carry 20-30 lbs of weight without difficulty, climb a flight of stairs, stand without assistance, walk over uneven terrain up and down a moderate slope. See the question below on age, weight, and height restrictions for more detail.

What Are The Age, Weight, And Height Restrictions For The Activities?

For all of our “high adventure” activities, individual riders must be at least 5 years old. All participants can NOT exceed 280 lbs. At the zipline guide’s discretion, any rider under 60 lbs may need to ride tandem with a guide on certain lines.

Children 12 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult to complete the zip line courses; the Aerial Excursion and Challenge Adventure Course ratio is 1 adult per 3 children. An adult is defined as a person over the age of 18+.

Can I Just Show Up For A Tour?

No. You should schedule a tour ahead of time. If you just show up, and we have space available, we will gladly fit you in, but we sell out of space regularly, plus we have specific start times. People that show up without a reservation generally don’t get to go through the course. You can book online or call us at 1-888-353-1490.

How Do I Make A Reservation?

You can book online or call us at 1-888-353-1490. We will need to know:

    • What date(s)/time(s) you are interested in
    • How many people to expect
    • Your credit card information will be required to finalize the reservation (full payment is due at the time of reservation).
Can I Wear A Skirt With A Harness?

Skirts can be worn with a harness if the individual is wearing non-see-through leggings, pants, or shorts under the skirt.

Are Photos Or Videos Available For Purchase? Do You Rent GoPro’s?

We offer Viewpoint Rentals starting at $29 per camera for one tour with discounts if you rent multiple cameras (plus 6% sales tax).
Rentals are handled on a first-come, first-served basis and can be reserved at the time of reservation or when you check-in at our office.

Rental includes the use of the camera for the duration of the tour.

Cameras are forward mounted on helmets and can record live video in 1080 HD at 60 fps or still images at 5 megapixels.
Our staff maintain and set up the equipment and are available to assist you as needed.

Following your experience you will receive a QR code to access your video. You will have 30 days to download to your devices.

Can I Bring A Camera/Camcorder Along With Me?

Yes, but it must be secured to your wrist, or we can attach it to your harness using the wrist strap. We do not allow you to wear cameras or anything around your neck for safety reasons. Also, if you choose to bring your equipment, you should recognize that there is a possibility that it could be damaged on tour. So whatever you bring is at your own risk. It is essential to secure it to your person for the tour.

What If I Need To Cancel Or Change My Reservation?

Full Payment is due with the reservation. Up to 3 days before the start time, customers can 1) change the tour date/time at no cost, 2) cancel the current booking and receive Store Credit for the full value of the cancellation, or 3) cancel the current booking and receive a refund minus the booking fee. Within 3 days, no changes are possible and there are no refunds for cancellation, except in cases of inclement weather. We are rain or shine, but if we determine inclement weather would affect the comfort and/or safety of the guest or guides (ex: high winds, lightning, heavy downpour, extreme temperatures, etc…), customers will have the option to re-schedule at no cost or receive store credit. COVID-19 AMENDMENT. Any guest(s) that feel unwell prior to their tour should call the office to re-schedule. Full value of the amount paid will be posted forward as store credit for a new date, and no fees will be assessed on the schedule change.

What Happens If I Start The Tour And Don’t Want To Finish?

In this situation, you will be billed for the full event. However, you do not need to finish the tour. The course is “Challenge By Choice,” so if you feel that you cannot continue, our tour guides will do their best to encourage you to continue on with the tour or they will make accommodations to get you off the course. You will then need to walk from that point back to the starting point. We want you to have a positive experience at our environmentally-friendly canopy tour.

Can I Add Other Activities To The Event?

Yes, Refreshing Mountain offers an array of other activity options, and there are often discounts available if you add them to your day before or after ziplining. Check out this page to learn more about our Wildlife Center, Giant Swing, Climbing Tower, Escape Rooms, and many other activities.

Please call our Front Desk at 1-888-353-1490 to help with booking; otherwise, discounts may be available for online bookings.

Can I Make This Into An Overnight Trip?

Yes. We offer very cozy cabins suites for up to 8 people and tent sites if you want something more rustic. For groups of 20+ people, see our information on Large Group Retreats for additional options.
